Meet Our Staff

Dedicated & Experienced Staff

At Highlander Summer, our team is made up of talented, imaginative, and kind-hearted professionals and volunteers who are wholeheartedly committed to creating an amazing summer experience for your child.

We believe in creating a fun and secure environment for all campers. That's why our summer staff members and volunteers undergo background checks, fingerprinting, and orientation before the start of the summer season.

Lead Specialists & Coaches

Our Lead Specialists and Athletic Coaches are primarily Lake Highland Preparatory School employees responsible for planning and managing their camps.

Assistant Specialists & Coaches

The Assistant Specialists and Coaches, who are mostly employees of Lake Highland Preparatory School, help supervise and manage their assigned camp groups.

Activity Specialists

Our Activity Specialists focus on Day Camp. They include qualified professionals responsible for organizing and instructing daily activities and special events. They are eager to share their expertise and teach our campers new skills and games.

Senior Counselors

Senior Counselors are college-aged students who enjoy working with children and serve as positive role models in our Day Camp.

They lead small subgroups of campers, called "cabins," through the daily activity schedule and are responsible for the management and supervision of the campers.

Junior Counselors

Our Junior Counselors are young adults who are 18 years old and have graduated from high school.

They assist the Senior Counselors with the management and supervision of a specific Day Camp "cabin" (small subgroups of campers).

Lifeguards

Our team of lifeguards and Aquatic Supervisor closely monitor campers' pool time.

The lakefront Lifeguards supervise campers who participate in kayaking.

All Lifeguards are fully certified in CPR, first aid, lifeguarding, and water safety.

Counselors-in-Service

Counselors-in-Service are rising 10th through 12th grade volunteers who enjoy working with children while earning valuable community service hours.

They assist Lead Specialists, Coaches, and Senior Counselors in guiding campers through various activities, games, events, and more.

All camps have at least two or three staff members, comprised of a mix of the above-staffed positions.

"We couldn't be happier with our experience at Highlander Summer! The staff were friendly and supportive, and our daughter made great friends throughout the summer. Overall, Highlander Summer provided a perfect blend of fun and learning. We can’t wait for next summer!"
