Highlander Summer’s specialty camps are designed for many interests, ensuring there’s something for every camper. Campers can explore artsy and theatrical endeavors, the enchanting realms of princesses, mermaids, and pirates, or be captivated by the intricacies of chess, cooking, and robotics in camps designed to ignite passion and curiosity. The variety of camps is a testament to Highlander Summer’s commitment to nurturing the individual interests of each camper while fostering an atmosphere of love, concern, and mutual respect that goes beyond the conventional classroom setting.

The underlying philosophy of these specialty camps is to cultivate curiosity and exploration through engaging activities and hands-on experiences. Campers in specialty camps also get to dip into the refreshing waters of the LHP pool, participating in swimming or water play and an outdoor activity or playground time. Going Beyond the Classroom: Field Trips and Community Engagement

Some specialty camps take the camp experience beyond the school grounds through exciting field trips. Campers embark on journeys to places like the American Girl Doll store, Harry Potter World at Universal Studios, NASA, and the Orlando Executive Airport. These trips provide an opportunity for hands-on learning and create lasting memories for the campers.

Moreover, all specialty camps are open to the Orlando community and beyond, inviting children from different backgrounds to partake in these enriching experiences. Get to Know a Few of Our Specialty Camp & Instructors

Our specialty camps are unique, engaging, and fun due mainly to the amazing facilitators we have leading them! The instructors leading these camps bring a wealth of passion and dedication to the summer experience.

Primary Science (Kindergarten – 1st grade)

Mrs. White and Mrs. Cherry, who facilitate Primary Science for the youngest campers, emphasize the joy of providing hands-on science experiences to children. They find fulfillment in witnessing young scientists’ faces light up when experiments (like make-your-own volcanoes and geysers) succeed and believe in imparting not just scientific knowledge but also crucial life skills such as perseverance and teamwork.

Hogwarts Adventures (3rd-8th grade)

Mrs. Herrick and Mr. Gainza lead specialists of Hogwarts Adventures, express their enthusiasm for creating an environment where academics and fun collide. She sees summer as a time for pure enjoyment and exploration of passions, providing a unique space for campers.

Service Leadership (7th-9th grade)

Ms. Hujik, who oversees the Service Leadership specialty camp, considers it a privilege to teach campers about the significance of serving others. Beyond academic constraints, she guides campers through various service activities, fostering social connections, community engagement, and empathy. As she puts it, “Engaging in service has transformed my perspective on others and significantly impacted my daily life, influencing both the possessions I have and the actions I take.”

Ultimate Unicorns and Teddy Bears, Buddies, Bubbles… OH MY! (Kindergarten – 1st grade)

Mrs. Honor facilitates camps for young attendees, including Teddy Bears and Ultimate Unicorns. She values the relaxed environment and social-emotional connections these camps provide. Her camps offer literacy, crafts, games, and even a campus-wide search for their very own Build-A-Bear or unicorn.
